Taliban threatens Parisians with attacks
Central Asia News.Net Monday 17th November, 2008
A Taliban-made video, aired by Al Arabiya television, has threatened attacks in Paris.
In the video, a Taliban commander, identified as Mullah Farouq, threatened to launch the attacks if France refused to withdraw from Afghanistan.
The video also claimed an ambush that killed 10 French troops in August was carried out by the Taliban.
Farouq said: 'We have killed 10 French soldiers as a message to the French so that they rectify their mistakes and withdraw from Afghanistan, and if they don't they will hear our response in Paris.'
The video included footage of insurgents shown wearing uniforms of the French soldiers they had allegedly killed.
Taliban fighters killed 10 French soldiers and wounded 21 in a major battle near the capital Kabul after ambushing their patrol in August.
There are about 2,500 French troops in Afghanistan.
