KABUL, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in Kabul have resumed the electronic national identity card issuance service, the local television channel Tolonews reported Sunday.

In the first phase, 80,000 e-ID cards will be issued, the report said.

The issuance of passports and national ID cards had been halted since the power takeover by Taliban on Aug. 15 in Afghanistan where thousands of people knocking the door of passport department in Kabul everyday for their travels abroad.
