Nearly 100 killed in mine incidents in Afghanistan over past year

KABUL, April 7 (Xinhua) -- A total of 225 incidents involving landmines and unexploded ordnance have been recorded across Afghanistan over the past year, leaving 96 people dead and another 378 people injured, a government official said Tuesday.

Mohammad Yousuf Hammad, a spokesman for the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, highlighted the continued threat posed by landmines and unexploded devices nationwide, urging increased public awareness and stronger preventive measures to help reduce civilian casualties.
